The Divine Office, or choral prayer, is the prayer that the Church solemnly offers God for the salvation of the world. In Terreville, it is entirely sung, according to the wishes of the founder, Dom Léonce Crenier.

The monks’ daily prayers are made up of three elements :

  1. The choral prayer or Divine Office, seen above;
  2. Private prayer, which is a face-to-face meeting with God in silence and contemplation, preferably before the Holy Host, the real presence of Christ;
  3. The Lectio Divina is the delightful and contemplative reading of the Word of God, followed by the reading of commentaries written by monks through the ages.
